Governor Pat McCrory and North Carolina Commerce Secretary Sharon Decker announced today that Novamelt Americas will expand its manufacturing facility in Randolph County. The company plans to create 10 jobs and invest more than $2.4 million over the next three years in Trinity, North Carolina.
“Manufacturing is key to our long-term success and we are proud to have business partners like Novamelt operating here in our state,” said Governor McCrory. “Through new economic development initiatives being implemented, companies know that North Carolina offers them the skilled workforce and strong business climate they need to succeed.”
Novamelt Americas is a manufacturer of rubber-based pressure sensitive hotmelt adhesives. Major market applications for their products include self-adhesive labels, tapes, medical and hygiene products, as well as other industrial applications. The company, with a presence in North Carolina since 2006, is in the process of introducing a new hotmelt adhesives line at its Trinity location.
“We want to create jobs in North Carolina, and we know most of them will come from existing companies like Novamelt,” said Sharon Decker, North Carolina Secretary of Commerce. “We applaud the Novamelt executives for reinvesting in North Carolina and deciding to grow their U.S. operations with us.”
Salaries will vary by job function, but the average annual salary for the new jobs will be $45,300, plus benefits. The Randolph County average annual wage is $30,628.
“Novamelt is committed to growing its business in the Americas from our base here in Trinity,” said President Jim Auber. “We have enjoyed very healthy growth in recent years and our US manufacturing facility in Trinity plays a key role in our global supply and sourcing strategy. We certainly appreciate the support we get from state and local government, and the local community. With the help of the State of North Carolina, Randolph County, Trinity and our local contractor, we were able to identify the perfect site here in North Carolina.”
The project was made possible in part by a performance-based grant from the One North Carolina Fund of up to $10,000. The One NC Fund provides financial assistance, through local governments, to attract business projects that will stimulate economic activity and create new jobs in the state. Companies receive no money up front and must meet job creation and investment performance standards to qualify for grant funds. These grants also require and are contingent upon local matches.

Other partners that helped with this project include: the N.C. Department of Commerce, N.C. Community Colleges, Randolph County, Randolph County Economic Development Corporation and the City of Trinity.
