Gov. Bev Perdue has declared May 2011 to be “Workforce Development Professionals Month” in North Carolina to honor all professionals who play such a vital role in our economy. Workforce development professionals, organizations and partnerships are more critical than ever in a rapidly changing labor market that demands new skills and training programs.
“The economic success of our communities in the new global economy depends upon the quality and skills of the local labor force,” said Gov. Bev Perdue. “We owe a debt of gratitude to the hard-working and well-prepared professionals that enable us to produce skilled workers for a variety of industries. They are the troops on the ground as we fight against unemployment and the economic recession.”
“The fast-paced change in the labor market, intensified by the recent economic recession, has put a strain on North Carolina’s workforce development professionals, but their efforts have led the way to economic recovery for thousands of families across the state,” said Commerce Secretary Keith Crisco.
North Carolina industry depends on its knowledgeable and dedicated workforce development professionals whether they are case managers, human resource specialists or career counselors. Working in community colleges, JobLink Centers, non-profits or other organizations, these professionals help navigate a multifaceted job market for job seekers, employees and employers in every corner of the state.
