RALEIGH
Mar 31, 2011

Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that the Industrial Asset Management Council (IAMC) has selected Pinehurst to host the group’s bi-annual meeting from April 26 to 30, 2014.

The IAMC conference will provide an opportunity to showcase the state, giving North Carolina unique access to executives and economic developers across the nation who are key decision makers when businesses choose to expand or relocate their operations and where new jobs will be located.

“North Carolina is a premier location and we welcome these important decision makers to our state,” said Gov. Bev Perdue.  “This is tremendous opportunity to highlight our top-ranked business climate, our well educated workforce, and our terrific quality of life to senior executives and economic developers from across the country.”

The professional forum will bring more than 350 senior executive leaders from across the U.S. to Pinehurst.  IAMC is considered the leading national association of industrial asset management executives, corporate real estate executives and economic developers.

“Hosting IAMC in 2014 is a high honor for Pinehurst Resort.  The best economic developers and corporate industrial real estate executives will gather in Pinehurst just before we stage an unprecedented two U.S. Opens.  It will be an exciting time for the entire state of North Carolina,” said Eric Kuester, Director of National Accounts for Pinehurst Resort.

“We are very fortunate to have been able to book the famous Pinehurst Resort for our Spring 2014 Forum.  This gorgeous facility will be hosting both the Men’s and Women’s U.S. Opens in 2014 and Pinehurst will be in top shape during the IAMC dates.  The complete restoration of the fabled Pinehurst #2 golf course is a momentous achievement that the global fan base of golf is closely following.  I am predicting this Pinehurst Forum will be our most successful ever,” said Mike White, IAMC Future Sites Committee Co-Chair.

The Spring 2014 IAMC Forum will be hosted by the N.C. Department of Commerce and the Friends of North Carolina.

“Bringing a convention of this caliber to Pinehurst gives us the perfect opportunity to showcase the many tremendous assets of North Carolina,” said Katherine Thomas of Progress Energy, a Friends of North Carolina Board member.  “We are committed to making this event a great experience for the hundreds of economic developers and corporate real estate executives from across the country who will join us for this outstanding conference in 2014.”

North Carolina is the 6th most visited state in America and visitors spent a record $17 billion in 2010.  That record spending led to an increase of 2,000 direct jobs last year in the tourism industry.

Founded in June 2002, the Industrial Asset Management Council (IAMC) is the leading association of industrial asset management and corporate real estate executives, their suppliers, service providers and economic developers.  IAMC is a member-focused association providing strategic insights, highest quality educational resources and exclusive networking opportunities for the leaders of the manufacturing and industrial asset management industry.  For more information about IAMC, visit www.iamc.org.
