Plastic Film Manufacturer to Expand in Martin County

Governor Pat McCrory and N.C. Commerce Secretary Sharon Decker announced today that Syfan Manufacturing, Inc. is expanding its North Carolina manufacturing operations in Martin County.  The company plans to create 24 new jobs and invest more than $6.5 million over the next three years in Everetts.
 
“This is great news for Martin County and Eastern North Carolina,” said Governor McCrory. “Our talented workforce, high-quality education system, and pro-jobs policies continue to signal to the private sector that North Carolina is a great place to do business. We would like to thank Syfan for its investment and we look forward to watching them grow and expand here in North Carolina.”
 
Syfan Manufacturing is a leading supplier of quality shrink & over-wrap films to the U.S. market, and is expanding local manufacturing capabilities in Everetts, North Carolina to further offer competitive pricing, excellent service and to support its broad customer base. Its plan is to add 50 percent to the present production. Syfan Manufacturing, Inc. currently employs 73 full-time workers in eastern North Carolina.

Syfan’s main plant is based in Israel. Operating on rotated 12 hour shifts, Syfan has been selling sytec polyolefin in the United States since 1985.
 
Salaries will vary by job function, but total payroll is estimated to be more than $ 684, 192, plus benefits.
 
“The decision to expand the existing plant was accepted following the corporation's satisfaction from the excellent cooperation with the county and the state in the decade since the plant’s establishment,” said Alon Kessler, president of Syfan. “The company’s expansion will support potential market growth in North America. In addition to expanding the production capacity, the new line will give us the option to develop sophisticated products to be more competitive in the North American market.” 
 
The project was made possible in part by a performance-based grant from the One North Carolina Fund of up to $120,000. The One NC Fund provides financial assistance, through local governments, to attract business projects that will stimulate economic activity and create new jobs in the state. Companies receive no money up front and must meet job creation and investment performance standards to qualify for grant funds.  These grants also require and are contingent upon local matches.
 
“Creating jobs and promoting economic development in Martin and Edgecombe County has been my top priority,” said Representative Joe Tolson. “I commend the hard work of Secretary Decker and the legislature for helping make this project a reality.”
