RSI Home Products Will Expand Operations in Richmond County, Creating 175 New Jobs

Governor Pat McCrory, N.C. Commerce Secretary John E. Skvarla, III, and the Economic Development Partnership of N.C. announced today that RSI Home Products Manufacturing, Inc. will expand its North Carolina operations with a new facility in Richmond County that will employ 175 workers. The maker of kitchen and bathroom cabinetry plans to invest $5.8 million there during the next five years.

Since Governor McCrory took office in January of 2013, North Carolina has witnessed the net creation of more than 260,000 private-sector jobs.


RSI Home Products Manufacturing is a unit of RSI Home Products, Inc. based in Anaheim, California. The privately-held company is a leading manufacturer of kitchen, bath and home storage cabinetry in North America.  The company manufactures cabinets for use in the residential repair and remodeling and new residential construction markets sold through home centers, kitchen and bath dealers and new homebuilders.  


RSI has over 3 million square feet of manufacturing and distribution operations with assembly and distribution facilities in California, Texas and North Carolina.  The company has been manufacturing its products in North Carolina for over 20 years and currently operates a one million square foot facility in Lincolnton which employs more than 700 full time people.

RSI will employ a variety of skilled craftsmen, supervisors and management at the new facility. The company’s operations in Richmond County will generate nearly $5.5 million in annual payroll impact for the local economy. 


“We are looking forward to significantly expanding our presence in North Carolina with this new 300,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Richmond County that will be opening later this year.  We would like to thank the State of North Carolina, the Richmond County Board of Commissioners and county staff for all of their assistance with this project as we were moving through the process.” stated Jeff Hoeft, Chief Operating Officer of RSI.


The manufacturers’ expansion in North Carolina was made possible in part by a performance-based grant of up to $550,000 from the One North Carolina Fund. This fund provides financial assistance in support of local governments in creating jobs and attracting economic investment. Companies receive no money upfront and must meet job creation and capital investment targets to qualify for funds. All One NC grants require a local government match.


A $750,000 grant from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program will help ready the company’s new building for operation. The funds are administered by the Rural Economic Development team at N.C. Commerce.

 In addition to North Carolina Commerce and EDPNC, other partners include the North Carolina General Assembly, the North Carolina Community College System, NCWorks, the North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority, Richmond County Board of Commissioners and Richmond County Economic Development.
