Eight Counties Will Change Tiers Next Year

—Unemployment rates (not seasonally adjusted) increased in 83 of North Carolina's counties in October, decreased in six, and remained unchanged in 11. Scotland and Graham Counties had the highest unemployment rates, each at 10.3 percent, while Buncombe County had the lowest at 4.1 percent.

Raleigh, N.C. — The state’s seasonally adjusted October unemployment rate was 5.7 percent, decreasing 0.1 of a percentage point from September’s revised rate.  The national rate declined 0.1 of a percentage point to 5.0 percent.
