Gov. Perdue today honored nine North Carolina communities with the inaugural Governor’s Innovative Small Business Community Award for their creative and innovative ways to help small businesses bring jobs to North Carolina.

Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that Aseptia Inc., a processor of fruits and vegetables, will locate a state-of-the art manufacturing facility in Montgomery County. The company, doing business as Wright Foods, plans to create 75 jobs and invest $10.15 million during the next three years in Troy.

-- N.C. Secretary of Commerce Keith Crisco today announced Lynn Holmes as the department’s new assistant secretary for the division of employment security. The appointment takes effect on Nov. 1 when the N.C. Employment Security Commission merges with the N.C. Department of Commerce.
