Plastics Manufacturer to Add 54 Jobs in Rutherford County

State Grant Helps Company Locate in Spindale
RALEIGH
Feb 27, 2012
Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that Alliance Precision Plastics Corp, an injection molding plastics and tooling manufacturer, will locate a facility in Rutherford County.  The company plans to create 54 jobs and invest at least $300,000 during the next three years in Spindale.  The project was made possible in part by a $48,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.

“Every day more companies are discovering that North Carolina’s history of investing in education and job training has created a workforce second to none,” Gov. Perdue said. “Those investments, and our support for infrastructure and transportation improvements, have built a top notch business climate that continues to attract global corporations, including advanced manufacturers like Alliance Precision Plastics.”

Alliance Precision Plastics is headquartered in Rochester, N.Y.  The company, established in 1954, is an injection molding plastics and tooling manufacturer that primarily produces parts for commercial, industrial and medical companies. Alliance is also a 50 percent owner in a joint-venture, Alliance-McAlpin NY LLC, which operates in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico.

Alliance intends to acquire the assets of Molding Dynamics Inc, an injection molding operation in Spindale, as part of the company’s expansion to North Carolina. As part of the acquisition, MDI workers who were recently laid off will have an opportunity to apply for new positions with Alliance.

Salaries will vary by job function, but the average annual wage for the new jobs will be $28,148 plus benefits.

“We have been seeking the right opportunity to open a facility in North Carolina,” said Rocky Butler, CEO of Alliance Precision Plastics. “The business prospects and economic environment of the area are quite attractive to businesses such as ours.”

The One NC Fund provides financial assistance, through local governments, to attract business projects that will stimulate economic activity and create new jobs in the state.  Companies receive no money up front and must meet job creation and investment performance standards to qualify for grant funds.  These grants also require and are contingent upon local matches.

North Carolina continues to have a top-ranked business climate.  Through Gov. Perdue’s JobsNOW initiative, the state works aggressively to create jobs, train and retrain its workforce, and lay the foundation for a strong and sustainable economic future.

Through use of the One NC Fund, more than 60,000 jobs and $11 billion in investment have been created since 2001.  Other partners that helped with this project include: the N.C. Department of Commerce, N.C. Department of Revenue, N.C. Community Colleges, Rutherford County, the Town of Spindale and the Rutherford County Economic Development Commission.
