Mary Elizabeth Wilson serves as Commerce's Chief of Staff and General Counsel.  Chief Wilson holds a leading strategic and operational role for the Department, assisting the Secretary and other members of the team to carry out our mission to improve the economic well-being and quality of life for all North Carolinians.  As General Counsel, she also provides legal support for general corporate matters, personnel, contracts, and economic development & incentive grants.  She is proud to represent the State in recruiting companies to locate or expand here and negotiating the final documentation to effectuate the deals.

Wilson holds both undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Texas at Austin.  She is a member of the North Carolina State Bar and the 10th Judicial District Bar.
