Several business units and functions of the Department are organized and housed within the Office of the Secretary of Commerce.

• Commerce Communications serves as the central clearinghouse for news and information about the Department's work, including management of our public records.
• The Culture and Community Engagement team helps the Department's internal teams implement sound businesses practices around fairness and opportunity, and also offers resources and consulting services to businesses in the state as they engage with this important topic in their companies.
• The Economic Development group serves as the primary liaison on economic development matters between the Governor's Office, Commerce, the Economic Development Partnership of N.C., and local and regional economic development organizations.
• A handful of Internal Divisions support the general business operations of the Department.
