, N.C. — With 35,000 delegates, dignitaries and media representatives as well as the eyes of the world converging on Charlotte for the 2012 Democratic National Convention next week, the N.C.

Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that Rep. Daniel F. McComas, a Republican from New Hanover County, will be named chairman of the North Carolina State Ports Authority.  McComas will resign his house seat effective Sept. 2, to take the new position.
